Fansly Terms Glossary

Last updated

Definitions of the terms that appear in Fansly agency contracts and creator dashboards. Each entry defines one term and nothing else, so a reader landing on a single definition gets a complete answer.

How this Fansly terms glossary is organised

Chatter

A chatter is a person employed to answer a creator’s paid messages, sell pay-per-view content and handle tips, usually working shifts so the account is covered around the clock. A chatter logs into the creator’s account to work, which is why account access terms matter in an agency contract.

Exclusivity clause

An exclusivity clause is a contract term preventing a creator from working with another agency, or sometimes from publishing on another platform, for the duration of the agreement. Neither Fansly nor OnlyFans requires platform exclusivity, so an exclusivity clause in an agency contract is the agency’s requirement rather than the platform’s.

Account manager

An account manager is the single person at an agency responsible for a creator’s account: the tier structure, the posting schedule, the reporting and the relationship. An account manager is the contact a creator escalates to when something on the account is wrong.

Commission basis

The commission basis is the amount an agency’s percentage is calculated on: gross revenue, net revenue after the platform’s cut, or only revenue the agency attributes to its own work. Two agencies quoting the same percentage on different bases charge materially different amounts, so the basis belongs in the written agreement.

Custom

A custom is content a subscriber commissions from a creator to a specific brief, priced individually. On a managed account the chat team takes the brief and checks it against the creator’s written limits before the creator decides whether to accept.

Payout minimum

A payout minimum is the smallest balance a creator can withdraw using a given method. On Fansly the minimum varies by payout method rather than being a single figure, so the practical cost of withdrawing depends on which method a creator uses.

Explore

Explore is Fansly’s in-app discovery feed, where the platform surfaces creator posts to users who do not already follow them. Fansly does not publish how Explore ranks content, so no agency can guarantee placement there.

Free follow

A free follow on Fansly lets someone follow a creator without paying, seeing only the content the creator marks as public. The free follow builds a list of interested people who can be marketed to later, and it is a native Fansly feature rather than something an agency sets up.

Payout hold

A payout hold is the waiting period between a subscriber’s payment and the moment a creator can withdraw it. Fansly holds each transaction for approximately seven days from when it was earned, which means a creator’s withdrawable balance always lags the revenue shown on the dashboard.

Platform cut

The platform cut is the percentage a platform keeps from creator revenue before anything reaches the creator. Fansly keeps 20% and pays out 80%, applied to subscriptions, tips, paid messages and customs alike, which is the same split OnlyFans uses.

PPV (pay-per-view)

PPV, short for pay-per-view, is a message with content locked behind a one-off price, unlocked when the recipient pays. PPV sits outside the subscription and is usually the largest revenue line on a managed account after subscriptions themselves.

Subscription tier

A subscription tier is one of several monthly price points a Fansly creator can offer on a single account, each unlocking a different set of content. Fansly supports multiple active tiers at once, which is the main structural difference from OnlyFans, where an account has one subscription price.
